Outdoor Fabric & Cushion Maintenance

Fabric Care

featureDECO recommends the following guidelines to ensure your outdoor rattan furniture fabrics and cushions maintain their appearance and condition.

  • Our cushions are considered showerproof, and we highly recommend that when they are not in use they are stored in a dry place. Cushions have to be kept in dry storage when not in use, especially during the rainy or winter season as they can get damp or soaked. This includes not leaving the cushions underneath the furniture cover through the winter season.

  • Treat all stains and spills immediately.

  • Gently remove any soil, do not scrub.

  • Please note that any fabrics with a pile will flatten as a characteristic, regular light vacuuming with a soft brush attachment will maintain the appearance of your cushions.

All polyester fabrics are classed as showerproof, which means that it is water repellent and that water can still penetrate the material. Please note, this is not to be confused with waterproof which means that water cannot penetrate the surface and is impervious to water. Prolonged exposure to moisture, will result in showerproof fabrics and foam becoming damp. Should this occur, we recommend that the covers are removed, the covers and foams are air-dried, once dry the covers can be put back on. The natural drying process after rainwater exposure can leave a white water residue, this can be removed by washing the covers with a mild detergent at 30 degrees, and air drying.

If the cushions have been left outdoors in prolonged rain, this can potentially damage the fabric and foam.
